Sep 16, 2002 · The light on the mobo is a power LED and will light up if the mobo (motherboard) is receiving power from the PSU. I would presume, if this light is on, then the mobo is getting power - however, the colour depends on the mobo - hence the need to identify it.
If you are using a 5000 series processor you will need to go into the bios and update to the latest version before you can boot past the bios prompt. If you can't get to the bios then I would try one stick of ram at a time, and then reseat the CPU. I've also heard a shorted power cable or stuck power switch can cause that fault.
